OLSEN LAW LLC
Expertise Earned by Leading the Way
Kenneth A. Olsen brings over 40 years of healthcare industry experience, including three decades of executive leadership at global corporations and prestigious law firms such as Hyman, Phelps & McNamara, Merck & Co., Johnson & Johnson, Olympus Corporation, SK Pharmaceuticals, and ConnectiveRx.
Ken was recruited directly from Hyman, Phelps by Johnson & Johnson in 1996, to handle special regulatory challenges during a period of significant transformation. Ken invented and then led the institutionalization of healthcare compliance for the entrerprise. Over a period of years, he incubated, refined, and transformed academic compliance concepts into practical, pro-business practices and organizational solutions.
After operationalizing HCC, Ken was asked to do the same for Worldwide Internet Compliance, followed by Commercial & Government Pricing and Contracting. These large-scale initiatives honed Ken's ability to deliver not merely compliance, but change management and commercial success He also obtained his Six Sigma belt during this time.
Ken held Management Board and Regulatory responsibilities for each of J&J’s marquee businesses, including Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Noramco, Janssen Biotech, Tibotec Pharmaceuticals, J&J Gateway, and Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems. This career progression prepared him for broader executive leadership; in 2015, he transitioned to C-Suite roles at other organizations, where he continued to build organizational capabilities for both startups and established enterprises, domestically and internationally. He served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of two companies.

Distinctions, Resilience, and Perspective
Ken believes it is important to know the kind of person you may work with. While he has served on the management boards of 12 companies, that is hardly his entire story. He has also served on the boards of 8 charities, including the United Way of NJ, and has been elected to public office. Perhaps most notable is his lifelong love of sport. He played ice hockey from the age of 4 through university, where he was also a two-time Northeast Collegiate dart-throwing champion and president of his fraternity.
Ken is a Ironman triathlete and a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed Master Captain. Having circumnavigated the globe and logged nearly 100,000 lifetime ocean miles, he embodies a rare level of determination and resilience. This extensive maritime experience translates into the steady, strategic leadership he provides to his clients through even the most formidable professional and legal storms.
Ken holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America, where he was Senior Editor of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. His interdisciplinary approach is further informed by graduate studies in philosophy at Johns Hopkins University. Ken is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and New Jersey, where he accomplished the rigorous feat of passing both bar examinations during a single three-day period.
These experiences, together with decades in leadership roles, shape how Ken works with clients: direct, practical, and focused on durable solutions rather than theoretical advice. His aim is to help organizations navigate uncertainty, align stakeholders, and turn compliance into a source of business strength—not a brake on progress.
If you could use a simple reality check or require more, we offer the expert perspective born of decades in the trenches as well as executive leadership. Having navigated these complexities many times before, we stand ready to assist with the discretion and practical foresight your business demands.
